James Arneth
James Arneth, a 37-year resident of Chester, NY, passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2026, at the age of 71.
The son of James and Joy Arneth, he was born in Staten Island, NY on May 10, 1954.
James worked in law enforcement for the NYPD for over 20 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
The family of James Arneth would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Your kindness and presence have meant more to us than words can express.
We are deeply proud of his service in law enforcement with the NYPD and of the time he spent at Ground Zero on September 11, 2001, and the months after at the site. His courage, compassion, and dedication to others will always be remembered and honored.
James is survived by his loving wife Pamela Arneth of Chester, NY and their children, Cortney Balu and her husband Anthony Balu of Rock Tavern, NY, James Arneth and his wife Caitlin Arneth of Chester, NY, Lauren Walls and her husband Matthew Walls of Chester, NY, Bobby Arneth of Stamford, CT and Brianne Calderin and her husband Daniel Calderin of Warwick, NY. He was predeceased by their son Christopher Arneth.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Mia Balu, Anthony Balu, Gabriella Balu, Jack Arneth, James Arneth, Stella Arneth, Emily Walls, Ryan Walls, Evan Walls, Nicholas Calderin, and Michael Calderin, along with his siblings Diane and Steven Arneth.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Flynn Funeral Home, 139 Stage Rd, Monroe, NY 10950.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Columba R.C. Church, 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918.
The family has retained our firm to conduct services.
